Energy planning and district heating schemes

Today energy planning has become vital to reach targets on substitution of oil and gas into long-term sustainable energy sources.

Expansion of district heating schemes are found to be an optimal way to exploit many sources of energy, and distribute it in a commercial form to a broad range of customers. Energy sources may be surplus heat from power plants and incineration plants, biomass combustion, thermal energy and heat from industrial processes in combination with local peak load plants.

The energy planning identifies suitable customers for the district heating, prepares forecast for optimal investments in distribution systems, operational use of the various energy sources, operational results and financing requirements and prepares proposals for organizationa set-up of the new activities.
